Hannelore Geeraert

In 2018, I received my bachelor’s degree in Bioscience Engineering. In June 2020, I graduated summa cum laude as a master in Nanotechnology, Nanoscience and Nanoengineering at KU Leuven, faculty of Engineering Science. In October 2020, I joined the FYSC department as a PhD student under the supervision of Dr. Niko Van den Brande. The topic of my PhD project is the synthesis of polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) biopolysters by microorganisms and the subsequent thermal and mechanical characterisation of the produced materials. The project will be conducted in collaboration with the Microbiology Research Group (MICR) at VUB. Furthermore, I will be involved in teaching with activities in the chemistry course for first bachelor Engineering students at VUB.
