The Plant-Microbe Interaction team operates at the intersection of research groups Microbiology (MICR) and Plant Genetics (PLAN). We are particularly interested in mycorrhiza, a beneficial mutualism between soil fungi and plant roots. We study how mycorrhizal fungi function in their natural habitat, how environmental change impacts on their function and how this ultimately leads to evolution. This involves studies from the molecular to community level, from the enclosed lab environment to the field situation.
