Biography
Natural diversity is wonderful, don’t you think? Each day again I’m amazed by the beauty of nature and how the environment is impacting on species and functional diversity. With my team, I study fungal biodiversity and explore the potential of micro-organisms to increase resilience of plants. We focus on mycorrhizae, a mutualism of plant roots and soil-borne fungi.
Before settling in Brussel, I obtained a PhD at Hasselt University Belgium (Jan Colpaert lab), concluded a postdoc as Agreenskills Marie Sklodowska-Curie fellow at INRA Nancy France (Francis Martin lab) and spend some time as visiting scientist at Montana State University US (Sara Branco lab). At VUB, I am developing an exciting research program extended with outreach activities towards society and I am actively engaging for inclusive teaching of topics in fungal biology and genetics.
